Pablo Pulido leads Warriors with History Night
Pulido recorded a club-record four goals in victory
The Nelson Warriors' Men's Soccer team (4-6-3) continued their push toward a strong finish in the club's inaugural season, rolling to a dominant 6-2 victory over the Community Christian College Saints on Friday in Irvine, CA, highlighted by a program-record performance from freshman sensation Pablo Pulido.
The Warriors unleashed an offensive clinic, led by Pulido, who wrote his name in the history books by netting a club-record four goals (assisted by Gabe Contreras, Joel Bastida, and Damian Yanez), including a stunning goal kick strike that left the Cougars' defense, and their fans, stunned.
Anthony Berrios added to the final tally, blasting in a goal assisted by Joemar Valenzuela, while Yanez showcased his playmaking prowess again, threading a perfect pass to Andre Galindo for another Warrior score.
Minel Heras added the onslaught with a milestone moment for himself, converting a place kick for his first-ever collegiate goal, an exclamation point on Nelson's commanding effort.
Community Christian managed two goals in response, slipping through during brief defensive lapses, but Nelson's defense regrouped each time to lock down the Saints, limiting their opportunities and ultimately securing the victory.
The win kept the Warriors' momentum alive as they near the season's close, winners of four of their last five matches as they head into the final stretch, with only three games remaining on their schedule.
Up next for the Warriors is the at Simpson CA University Red Hawks on October 25, at 7:30pm, which will be followed by the final road game of the season on October 30, at Bethesda. The regular season will end with the squad's final home game on November 4, at 2pm.
