Nelson Flies past Eagles 104-92

Many fans of the genre will remember NBA Jam's most famous line, "He's on fire!" and anyone who is a fan of the sport has probably called it out countless times both with a controller in hand and on a court themselves. Be it rec league or a more serious setting, a single player shooting over 70% from the field is worthy of that claim, a phrase Harley "he's on fire" Upton likely heard tonight at Embry-Riddle as he led the Nelson Warriors to a hard fought 104-92 victory.

Harley was his usual self from beyond the arc where he shot 5-8, maintaining a white-hot season-long shooting average of 50.0%, currently placing him at 6th in the NCCAA (min. 50 attempts). He further shot a blistering 10-13 from within the arc (76.9%) en route to a season-high 42 points, along with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals. "When he's on, he's on," said one fan of the team. "It is a joy to watch Harley play the game of basketball. He is dynamic with the ball, explosive when he heads to the rim, and his 3-point shot is a thing of beauty."

Zaveion Bineyard, Rob Jenkins, and Tommy Randolph each continued recent individual offensive tears of their own, with the latter two each scoring 16 points while the former dropped 14 points on 6-8 shooting, each grabbing 4 rebounds. Playing with early foul trouble in the first half, all of Rob's scoring and rebounds came in the second half where he too was on fire, shooting 7-8 from the field before fouling out late in the game.

Leading by only one point at half, the Warriors opened the second stanza on an 11-0 run, building a double-digit lead they would lose only once for 11 seconds before using a 15-4 run to push the lead up to 20 with 10:48 remaining.

Noah Gifft recorded a team-high 28 points and 9 rebounds for the Eagles, shooting 10-16 from the field. Peter Dress dropped 23 points including 5-8 from 3.

Up next for the Warriors will be the Bethesda Flames of Anaheim on January 8, at 7pm in the Scott Activity Center.
