Mark Henige
Bio
Mark Henige, Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for mentoring young athletes to his coaching career. Henige graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), where he played football, laying the foundation for his deep connection to college athletics. Inspired by the opportunity to work closely with college athletes, Henige pursued coaching to mentor and guide student-athletes in their personal and athletic development. His coaching journey spans multiple levels and sports, beginning with coaching Arena football and participating in summer leagues at Grand Canyon University (GCU) and Arizona State University (ASU) from 1988 to 1990. He then spent 12 years coaching high school basketball at Arrowhead Christian Academy, honing his ability to develop young talent which has been used to great success at Nelson University where he has served as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach helping lead the program to an NCCAA Final Four appearance in 2023-24 and a 24-6 season culminating in an NCCAA National Championship in 2024-25. Henige integrates Christian values into his coaching philosophy by emphasizing mentorship, character development, and faith-based leadership, fostering a team culture that prioritizes growth both on and off the court.
