Warriors Use Outside Shots to Stampede past Elks

The Warriors burned down the nets in their 102-61 victory over the Stanton Elks in Anaheim, California, with the Nelson men draining a blistering 58.3% of attempts from beyond the arc, a season-high percentage. Rob Jenkins was electric from three, nailing 6-9, tying his career-high in makes set just two days prior in his team's 84-54 victory at Nobel University. Jenkins finished with a game-high 28 points and 5 rebounds, his third straight game with 28+. Harley Upton was his usual high-efficiency self from three, continuing his run of making at least one three in every game of the season (17 thus far), draining 4-7 for 15 points.

"We got ourselves into a groove taking good, well-timed outside shots and they fell for us tonight," noted head coach Kole Ebert following his club's strong performance. "But as important as our shot selection was, our perimeter defense was just as good, holding them (the Elks) to just three makes themselves."

The Warriors jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead, then used a 12-2 run to pull ahead 23-8 less then 8 minutes into the first half. Three straight 3's from Jenkins, Upton, and Tommy Randolph (who finished with 17 points) pushed the lead to 17 just two minutes later. The advantage would continue to grow throughout the night, the largest lead coming on the team's final shot, appropriately a 3-pointer from Elliot Offner with ten seconds remaining, the club's 14th and final make, and the bucket that put the Warriors over 100 points for the first time in three games, and 7th time this season.

Zaveion Bineyard finished with 15 points and 4 rebounds while Terrin Ross put together a solid performance off the bench with 8 points and game highs with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.

Justin Boateng came off the bench for the Elks to lead his club with 17 points.

The Warriors do not play a home game again until February 8, when the Justice College Lions of Chandler comes to town. Meanwhile, they continue their six-game road trip with a battle at the Simpson Red Hawks of Redding, CA on January 28.
